CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:

The purpose of the ministry of Christian Education is to develop, administer and promote the goals of Christian Education for the entire Church.  it is an 'umbrella' committee which oversees activities and efforts to promote understanding of and embracing of Christian principles within our congregation.  The purpose of Christian education is to educate Christians in the ways of the Lord.  Jesus did this by meeting people where they were, not where He wanted them to be.  We must recognize that what is needed to reach children in the neighborhood for Christ is different from what it might take to reach children who already know Christ, and who were raised in a Christian environment.  Sometimes it is necessary to use secular and non-religious menas in order to present the gospel.  We must use entertainment, sports, and other activities to win them for Christ.  The ministry of Christian Education under the direction of its Director sets the agenda for this ministry.  The Director of Christian Education is Rev. Claude Donaldson.

The Church School has been the traditional vehicle of imparting Biblical truths to members of the congregation.  One need not be a believer in order to attend church school; however, when we are doing our job correctly the Church school becomes a vehicle through which new converts are made.  ZMost of us joined Church THROUGH the Church School.  Teachers must meet the approval of the zpastor who is the chief teacher within the Church, aqnd who must be sure that Biblically sound doctrine is retrained and re-tooled for the challenge of teaching our young, who more than ever before are being pushed and pulled for control of their hearts and minds.  However, Church School is not just for children.  It is for adults, as well.  The Superintendent of the Church School is appointed by the Board of Christian Education in consultation with the Pastor and work with him, along with the teaching staff to develop strategies for an effective teaching ministry.  The Superintendent of Sunday School is Mother Juanita Harris.
